[Album of 18 original drawings in sepia, of views in Phaleron, Sunium, Aegina, Chios, Smyrna, Pergamum, etc., 1800]

This rare album of the Gennadios Libtary is comprised of eighteen drawings in sepia which show historical and archaeological sites. The anonymous artist apparently drew from a boat or ship on the sea, with the exception of the drawings showing the inland of Asia Minor. Some of the drawings have additional details etched in pencil. The drawings date from circa 1800. The artist appears mainly interested in rendering a general sensation of a landscape which speaks to him, while details such as bushes or trees merely serve to balance the composition.
