This rare Album of the Gennadius Library includes seventy-five watercolours in small format, showing human types and above all costumes of Ottoman administrative officials. There are obvious similarities with another Album of the Gennadius Library, which has thirty-five watercolours. The work probably dates from 1829 but the name of the artist and place of publication remain unknown. Carefully studied details, fine facial features, soft colours on the costumes and limpid gestures give the figures a languid charm.
